Religion and Spirit
Spirit is the intelligent energy of a higher power which the Universe was full of prior to any religion coming about. Spirit Camp is open to any religion & those without any religion. Spirituality is not dependent on religion and the principles inherent
in Spirituality do not violate any religion which is based on the Universal Principles of Love, Forgiveness & Grace & Kindness.
Behavior vs. Beliefs: It is not so important what people believe or what rules a religion require of
their followers...the only thing which is important in my mind and heart is
and for Spirit Camp is the Behavior, such as::
- How a person acts.
- How do they treat others.
- How do they conduct their lives.
- Are they giving and concerned for others.
- Are they loving.
- Are they forgiving.
- How to they maintain their family relationships.
- How do they act in business.
- Do they live “situational morality” or a constant flow of caring.
- Are they in their Mind and ego (“me”) based?
- How do they make decisions.
- Do they consider themselves a child of the universe or a privileged and superior member of a certain race, country, or religion.
- Can they walk in other’s moccasins and not judge.
Being a “Believer” counts for nothing unless a person is a “doer” and lives
the values of Kindness, Compassion & Love. The Golden Rule.
Gandhi replied when asked “What Religion are you”:
"I am a Hindu," … "I am also a Muslim. I am a Christian. I am a Jew." He continued to the crowd: "And so are ALL of you." Mankind is mankind. We're all brothers and sisters - EQUAL.
I would expand that to include all religions, all forms of shamanism and native practices from all continents, and all people who feel a sense of the Universe or a Higher Power without belonging to a formal religion.
Stating or claiming the title of any religion: That a person is Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, New Age, Catholic or any other title does not reveal anything about how they "live their value and beliefs". The proof is in the behavior and actions, not their beliefs. Tools for learning positive action is the crux of Spirit Camp.
